42CrMo alloy steel round bar
42CrMo (DIN 1.7225 / JIS SCM440) is a high-strength alloy structural steel known for its excellent combination of strength and toughness in the quenched and tempered condition. It is widely used in plastic mold production and machining of high-load parts. The steel can be through-hardened up to 60mm diameter by oil quenching. It offers good machinability, especially when delivered in M-treated condition, and is suitable for induction hardening to achieve surface hardness exceeding 53 HRC.
