Alloy 409 is a general-purpose, chromium, titanium stabilized, ferritic stainless steel. It offers good elevated temperature corrosion resistance and medium strength with excellent formability. It contains approximately 11% chromium, providing superior corrosion resistance compared to carbon steel, making it ideal for automotive exhaust systems and other high-temperature applications.
